Fringe Benefits

There are very few trends that have surfaced in different eras, but managed to look both in vogue at the present time and the consummate symbol to call to mind years later. An archetypal example of this would be fringe, which has looked uniformly outstanding on Pocahontas as it did flappers from the era of Louise Brooks or put together with psychedelic tie-dye and elevated platforms in the 1970s.

It's an easy trend to overdo, which is why I've chosen to limit fringe to my lower extremities, similar to what Lauren Conrad, Rachel Bilson, and Nicole Richie have done in the pictures below. I think each of these ladies has put their own impression on the trend, whether it is mixing it with a lust-worthy Chanel bag or a floating scarf. I'm inclined to Bilson's style stamp, mainly because it's impossible for her to have any fashion blunders.

Recently, I purchased these vintage moccasins I found on eBay. I find them both subtle and kitschy at the same time and am currently scheming ensembles to pair them with this impending spring and summer.

So, tell me, is fringe something you'd consider wearing or is this trend a pass for you?
