That Thing You Do

There are many different genres of photography that I'm drawn to, but nothing is as fascinating as what The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman does with street style photography. The genius of Schuman lies in his ability to snap everyday people living their lives, who once in awhile, by chance get their beauty and existence captured in a matter of seconds. He recently starred in a short video by Intel and discussed his approach to his craft:

"You never know what it is, that thing that draws you to that person.
It seems odd, but it's almost like going out there and
letting yourself fall in love a little bit everyday, be seduced everyday."

What an incredibly captivating and eloquent quote.

One of the many great things about his blog is that there are no identifications as to what labels are being worn or prices of pieces. I love wondering whether a colorful scarf was something found at a thrift store or a splurge purchase that carried him/her through college or if trapper hat was something lovingly stole from her boyfriend.

Street style blogs are wonderful for the reason that it's people watching at it's best in some of the world's most fashionable and diverse cities. One might have a limited bank account or be without a passport, but just having access to the internet gives one a means of entry to the style, intelligence, culture, humor, and ideas of others.

"Because the internet, is the world shrinking? Are we all becoming too homogenized?
Milan hasn't changed, Paris hasn't changed, New York hasn't changed.
So I don't think it's really homogenized anything, but I do think it's given us
what I like to call a digital park bench...before you were really limited to the people
you could see right there at your park...really, the whole world's open to you now."
